An award-winning filmmaker, producer, director, writer, and educator based in Amsterdam, originally from the Washington, D.C. area. Holding a Master of Fine Arts in Film & TV Production from Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Digital Filmmaking from The Art Institute of Washington, he has built a dynamic career blending hands-on industry experience with creative storytelling. His short films, including “Child Indigo” (Best Action/Sci-Fi and Best Cinematography at Georgia Shorts Film Festival) and “Roofless Woods” (Best Director at Around Film Fest), alongside a student Emmy-nominated Sci Fi “Federation Temple,” showcase his expertise in sci-fi, indie narratives, and post-production wizardry using tools like Avid Media Composer, DaVinci Resolve, and Unreal Engine.
As a former production assistant on high-profile projects like Netflix’s “House of Cards,” HBO’s “VEEP,” and Warner Bros.’ “Black Adam,” Trei brings authentic set insights to his YouTube channel, The Trei Hill Channel, where he delivers satirical takes on filmmaker mental health (“Mr. Hill’s House”), cinephile critiques (“Cinephile Swagger”), indie journeys (“Cinema Disclosed”), and production fixes (“I Fixed it in Post”). A devoted single father raising his son (co-parenting) in the Netherlands, he champions stoicism, mental health, Black American culture, collaboration over solo hustle, and resilience—drawing from personal triumphs like recovering from back surgery to play Division 1 football. Trei teaches film production, coordinates video/photography for live events like Septimius Awards, Dutch Start Up companies, and monetizes his passion through sponsorships in editing software, wellness, and film gear, inviting creators to connect early and often.
